Trucking is one of the most heavily regulated industries. Labor unions are mostly responsible for working conditions. And considering 98% of truckers belong to a union, if a trucker wants to find a different employer who offers better working conditions, he’s out of luck!

also consider this: i enjoy the fact that i live close to one of these interstate exits and have a dozen crappy fast food options to eat whenever I want!
